DEATH OF H. D. HENDRIX
June 7, 1893 (hand written)

After a lingering illness with dropsy, H. D. Hendrix, one of the oldest and best known residents of the county, died early yesterday morning, in his ninetieth year, at his home in Seventy-Six township. The deceased was born in Clermont county, Ohio, where he lived until twelve years of age when he moved to Wayne county, Ind., residing there until 1843 when he came to Muscatine county. He was one of the first settlers of this county and for a half century has been numbered among its best citizens. His life had been an industrious one and besides laboring for himself he had aided greatly in the advancement of his adopted county, furthering in all possible ways her enterprises and endeavoring to advance her moral interests.

The funeral will take place in Lettsville to-day at 10:30 o’clock, in the M. E. church. It was his dying request that Dr. L. D. Johnson, of this city, should officiate at his funeral. The interment will be in the Lettsville cemetery.
