WERNER WITTICH, SR.

A dispatch was received here last evening announcing the death of Werner Wittich, Sr., at Hot Springs, Ark. The deceased had resided in Muscatine for two score years and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances who will regret to hear of his demise. Nearly a year ago he was forced to retire from active business by failing health and during the past winter complications resulting from an attack of the grip confined him to his home. Three weeks ago he went to Hot Springs in quest of health but rapidly grew worse and so critical was his condition that on Saturday his wife and son departed for Hot Springs and were at his bedside a few hours before he passed away, the immediate cause of death being erysipelas.

His wife and six children survive, they being Kate, wife of Henry Zeider, Lizzie, wife of Otto Klaffenbach, Sue, wife of Chris. Otto, and George M., Werner, and Miss Annie, all of this city.

Mrs. Wittich and her son, George, started on the sad journey home last evening, accompanying the remains and are expected to arrive Wednesday morning.---April 10, 1893 (handwritten)
