DIED

HOOPES – At the family residence in Lake township, at 8 o’clock p. m., Wednesday, March 8, 1893, of blood poisoning, MARY M., wife of Thomas J. Hoopes, aged 45 years, 5 months and 18 days.

The above announcement will be sad news to the many friends of the deceased who had sincerely hoped that she would again recover her health. A tumor, which made its appearance last November, had steadily sapped her life until ten days ago, when it was removed by skilled surgeons. She could not rally from the shock, however, and complications setting in, she steadily grew weaker, passing away last evening.

The deceased was the daughter of George and Sarah Bumgardner, and was born on the old homestead in Lake township, where she has since resided. She was a noble Christian woman and bore her sufferings with patient resignation. She had been a faithful member of the Methodist church since her 16th year. Her sorrowing husband and two children, Bessie and John E., survive to mourn her loss.

The funeral services were held Saturday morning at High Prairie chapel, the cortege leaving the house at 10:30 o’clock.
