Obituary

Mrs. POLLY DARGER DALE, who died Sunday, January 22, 1893, at her home on East Hill, at the advanced age of 74 years, 10 months and 17 days, was born in Bucks county, Penn. In 1835 she emigrated with her parents to Crawford county, Ohio, where she was united in marriage with Samuel Dale, April 25, 1840. Their union was blessed with seven children, four sons and three daughters, six of whom, with thirty-one grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, survive. The children are: Catherine E. Finch, of Hardin county, Iowa; Polly A. Porter and Mary A. Croghan, of Pottawattamie county, Iowa; and Phil. F., J. S. and J. W. C. Dale, of Muscatine. Mrs. Dale came to Muscatine with her family in 1853 and had lived here ever since. A communicant of the Lutheran church since her 14th year, she lived a noble, Christian life. A devoted wife and affectionate mother and grandmother has gone to her reward and will be sadly missed by the sorrowing children and their families.
