DIED,

Thursday, December 8, 1892, at 11 o’clock p.m., at the family residence, 1091 Cypress street, Muscatine, Iowa of heart trouble, Mrs. S. F. Conaway, age 77 years, 3 months and 18 days.

The many friends of this truly good woman will learn with regret that she has passed from life’s busy stage, but will rejoice in the firm belle that she has indeed gone to an eternal and beautiful rest.

The deceased was a native of Frederick, Maryland, where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage with Thomas S. Conaway, who survives her. In 1852 they came west to Iowa and settled in Muscatine where they have since resided. Mrs. Conaway had been an active and interested member of the United Brethren church during the forty years she lived in Muscatine, and her familiar presence and word of counsel will be regretfully missed in that congregation.

The deceased had never fully recovered from an attack of grippe and pneumonia with which she suffered last winter. She was taken quite seriously ill a week ago and in her weakened condition could not withstand the attack and slept peacefully away at a late hour last night.

She is survived by her husband, who is 77 years of age and in feeble health, and five children: three daughters and two sons. They are: Thomas M., Mrs. J. J. Bowman, Charles W., and Miss Sue, of this city, and Mrs. James W. Smith, of Davenport. The funeral services will be held to-morrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the United Brethren church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. B. Hix.
