JOHN OPELT.

At his home on west Fifth street Sunday at 9 a.m. occurred the death of John Opelt, one of the oldest residents of this city. The deceased had been living a retired life for a number of years and died of senility at the age of 80 years. Mr. Opelt was a native of Germany but for half a century had lived in Muscatine. He was an honest and industrious citizen in his prime and his familiar form will be greatly missed.

His aged wife, three sons and two daughters survive, the children being Mrs. Peter Kuriger, Mrs. Maggie Thompson, Joseph and Frank of this city and Michael of St. Louis.

The funeral will take place this morning at 9 o’clock from St. Mary’s church.
