DEATH IF TUNIS SMITH.
April 22, 1892 (handwritten)

The venerable Tunis Smith, one of the oldest and most highly respected residence of Muscatine county, died last night at 10 o’clock at his home in Summit, at the ripe old age of 81 years, after a long and painful illness.

The deceased had been a resident of this county for many years, following the busy life of a farmer and enjoyed the respect and esteem of all for his upright dealings and kind acts.

Two children survive him-Mrs. H. H. Cole, of Jacksonville, Ills., and Abraham F. Smith, of Fontanelle, Iowa.

The funeral services will be held Monday at two o’clock p.m. at the Sweetland Center church, the cortege leaving the late residence of deceased at one o’clock.
