Called to Eternal Rest.
ROBERT KIRK.

The ranks of the old settlers lose another well known member in the death of Robert Kirk, who died of lagrippe and old age at his home in Lake township yesterday morning. Mr. Kirk was a native of the Emerald Isle and first saw light Nov. 6, 1815. He came to Muscatine county forty-four years ago, locating on a farm in Lake township, where he has resided continuously ever since. Mr. Kirk during his long residence in this community won the respect of all with whom he came in contact for his sterling qualities, and his departure will cause unfeigned sorrow.

He was united in marriage April 11, 1842, to Miss Martha Happer, who with four sons and three daughters survive. The latter are Mrs. Eliza Beattey, of Johnson county; Thomas, of Lyons county; Mrs. Sarah Bunker, of Walnut, Iowa; Robert, of Muscatine; Mrs. Emma Wigam and Mrs. Martha Jordan, of Johnson county, and William, of this city.

The funeral is appointed to occur Sunday at 10 a.m. from the home, conducted by Rev. S.H. Parvin. Interment in the city cemetery.
