DIED

COOK – At the family residence, No. 804 west Fourth street, Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 23, 1891, of old age, GEORGE COOK, in his 80th year.

Mr. Cook had been in declining health for several months, the gradual failing being incident to old age. The family circle realized that the end was near and at 4:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon he passed peacefully to the sleep that knows no waking. Deceased was born in Lisbon, Conn., August 15, 1812. His early youth and manhood was spent in the east. In 1861 he came to Iowa and Muscatine where he has ever since resided, enjoying the high esteem of all his acquaintances. December 20, 1840, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Bradford Brewster, who with four children – S. B., George B., Edward C. and Harriet H., wife of Prof. F. M. Witter, mourn his loss.

The funeral is appointed to take place Saturday morning at 10 o’clock from the family residence. The services will be conducted by Rev. F. T. Lee of the Congregational church, of which deceased was a faithful member.
