JOHN HENRY BECKE

—At his home, 48 west Eighth street, Monday, April 29th 1889, at 4:30 o’clock p.m., of pneumonia, JOHN HENRY BECKE, aged 78 years, 1 month and 12 days. The deceased was born in Neuenkirchen, Prussia (then Hanover) March 17, 1811. He emigrated to America in 1841, locating in Cincinnati. In June 1850, he moved west and took up his residence in Muscatine where he has since continuously resided.

Deceased was an honest and industrious citizen, a pleasant and courteous neighbor and friend. On March 4, 1851, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Brockage, who died six months ago. Three sons and five daughters survive. They are Mrs. L. Schwab of Keswick, Iowa, Mrs. P. Weingart, Mrs. Jos. Fuller, George, Henry and Miss Carrie of this city, and John of Chicago.
