DIED, At his home, at Summit, Muscatine county, Thursday, Oct. 4th, 1888, at 9:25 a.m., HENRY BLANCHARD, of enlargement of the liver. Mr. Blanchard was born in Orleans county, N.Y., Nov. 7th, 1836, and was 52 years of age. He came to Muscatine when but 2 yeas of age with his parents, being one of the oldest settlers in this vicinity.
In 1859 he married Miss Mary V. Connor, who, with their two children, Frank, and Mrs.. Bessie Bane, of Bondurant, Iowa, survive him.
During his long residence in Muscatine he had been extensively engaged in farming, stock raising and stock dealing and was in fact one of the largest dealers in the county.
For some time past his health had been very poor, with alternating periods of seeming convalescence and relapses. A short time ago he went to Colfax, returning only last Monday.
Mr. Blanchard was one of the solid, substantial business men of the county – one whose death is a public loss and which will be widely felt and mourned by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
The funeral services will be held at the home, Saturday morning at 10 o’clock, with interment in the city cemetery of Muscatine.
