JOHN WINN

Old Settlers Meeting.---- At a meeting of the Old Settlers held at the City Hall Aug. 29, 1888, on the death of John Winn, Joseph Bridgman was chosen chairman.

Messrs. William Davidson and Frank Geiger were made a committee on resolutions. Very few being present the meeting adjourned to meet at the funeral.--- P. Jackson, Sec’y.

The resolution committee reported as follows:

IN MEMORIAM.

    WHEREAS, In the death of John V. Winn we have lost one of our hard working, industrious citizens and a splendid specimen of an honest man – one of nature’s own noblemen, always obliging and generous, not given to talk as much as work, a silent, clever and first-class citizen, in every way worthy of being called a genuine man Resolved, That we tender the bereaved family our sincere and heartfelt sympathies and condolence in this their hour of sore affliction and severe loss.

    He that controls the destinies of all doth all things for the best.
