OLD SETTLERS' MEETING

At a meeting of the Old Settlers held on the 16th day of January 1886 at the City Hall, to pay a tribute of respect to the memory of ALFRED NYE and G. W. WILLIAMS, both old settlers of this county.

On motion Peter Jackson and Vincent Chambers were made a committee on Alfred Nye and Joseph Bennett on G. W. Williams. When after some talk about holding anniversary, on motion adjourned.

WHEREAS
, In the death of Mr. Alfred Nye this county has lost a valued citizen, upright and honorable in all the relations of life, a citizen void of offense both toward God and man; one who did a large part toward changing this beautiful land from a state of nature to its present condition of a highly cultivated and populous State, rich in all the appliances of material and intellectual growth.

Resolved
, That we mourn the death of Mr. Nye as a prized friend and neighbor and as Old Settlers we tender to the family of deceased our most cordial sympathy and condolence.
