LYDIA M. A. FREEMAN
DIED

At her home in Muscatine, Saturday night at 11 o’clock, of epilepsy, LYDIA M. A., wife of J. P. Freeman, in her 62nd year. Though an invalid since 1856, and a frequent and severe sufferer from her malady, deceased had maintained a sufficient degree of healthful activity to continue in many household duties, and her death was rather the immediate result of the accident of a fall on Friday last, than the culminating effect of her disease.

Mrs. Freeman was the daughter of the late William Parvin, who came to Muscatine in 1839. Mr. Freeman arrived the year following and his marriage with Lydia Parvin took place December 8, 1842. Of this wedlock, there were eight children, of whom four survive: Frank, Mrs. Thomas Watson, Charles and Mrs. Hill, all of whom, except Mrs. Watson, reside in this city.

For twenty-nine years Mrs. Freeman has been largely confined to her home, living the life of an invalid, and in this retirement, few outside of her family circle have been privileged to know her and to take note of her endearing relations to her household, or of the patient and heroic fortitude with which she has borne her trials for over a quarter of a century.

The funeral will take place from the residence on Sycamore street on Tuesday, May 19th, at 2 p. m.
