A meeting of the Old Settlers of Muscatine county held at the City Hall Dec. 14, 1882: The President, Suel Foster stated that we had met to notice the death of one of our oldest members in age and time of residence among us – Wm. Parvin.

M.J. Bridgeman named the …obsequies and final arrangements and also noticed the death of John Davis as of our early settlers.

Mess Gordon, Molis and Funck were made as a committee on resolutions. Mr. J.Bridgeman made some remarks regretting that so few settlers attended meetings on like occasions as this.

Mr. Williams advocated continuing our meetings although so few attended. Resolved that the Old Settlers meet at the residence of deceased and walk in a body with the relatives to the M.E. Church.---P. Jackson, Sec’y
