Muscatine Daily Journal, Thursday, November 20, 1884 page 3: MONTPELIER. Jas. Bowersox. - Nov. 18, 1884. Our school directors want a male teacher they claim and would pay good wages for a competent teacher, but it seems the male teachers are scarce.

Muscatine Daily Journal, Thursday, March 11, 1886 page 2: MONTPELIER. Jas. Bowersox. - At our annual school meeting yesterday, Mr. Julius Schnele was elected Director. The Board was instructed to have at least nine months during the ensuing year.

Miss Lollie Agar has finished her term of school at Melpine and is back at Montpelier for a few weeks vacation, when she will teach the same school again for a year at least, if she pleases.

Muscatine Daily Journal, Thursday, April 8, 1886 page 2: MONTPELIER. Jas. Bowersox. - Montpelier, Iowa, April 7, 1886. Julius Schiele has employed Miss Emma Logan, of Blue Grass, to teach the Glen Dale school, which is to commence on the 12th of this month.

Muscatine Daily Journal, Thursday, October 14, 1886 page 3: MONTPELIER. Jas. Bowersox. - Miss Egan, of Muscatine, has engaged the Montpelier Village school for the winter term.

Miss Logan, of Blue grass, who has taught the Glendale school has been sick for some time and unable to finish her fall term.

Muscatine Daily Journal, Thursday, October 27, 1886 page 3: MONTPELIER. Jas. Bowersox. - Miss Lollie Agar has finished the fall term of the Pleasant Prairie school, and intends to spend the winter with her sister at Grinnell, Iowa.

Muscatine Daily Journal, Thursday, January 13, 1886 page 4: MONTPELIER. Jas. Bowersox. - Montpelier, Jan. 10, 1887. Last Friday the Montpelier and Glen Dale schools visited Miss Craig's school, at Pleasant Prairie in a bosy, and report having a good sleigh ride and a pleasant time. Fred Lowry and Frank Fitchner furnished the sleighing rigs to their teacher and schoolmates. Leslie Wagner did the same for his schoolmates.

Muscatine Evening Journal, Thursday, March 24, 1887 page 4: MONTPELIER. Jas. Bowersox. - Montpelier, March 22, 1887. Miss Anna Agar has re-engaged the school she taught last winter.

Miss Delia Egan has the Montpelier school again for the summer term. She was very success in the winter term in gaining the good will of the school.

John Eis was re-elected director in this school district.

Muscatine Evening Journal, Friday, October 7, 1887 page 2: MONTPELIER. Jas. Bowersox. - Montpelier, Oct. 5, 1887. School matters never did run very smoothly since Montpelier wanted a school. At the last meeting of the board one of the members resigned.

Muscatine Evening Journal, Thursday, April 5, 1888 page 4: MONTPELIER. By Mary, The Milkmaid - Montpelier, April4, 1888. Miss Lillie Agar, the worthy and popular school marm, took her departure for Grinnell, where she will again teach the school taught by her last winter.

Miss Belle Emmerson, who has been teaching school one mile north of here, has returned to her home at Cone, IA.
