Will Hold Commencement Exercises Thursday For Rural 8th Graders

Commencement exercises will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28 in the Muscatine High school auditorium for the eighth grade class of the Muscatine county rural schools.

There will be 61 graduates, according to County superintendent Frank Ralston, including seven from the Lutheran Home.

The following program will be given:

“America,” by class and audience.
Invocation by Rev. J. Arthur Eveland, pastor of the First E.U.B. church.
Vocal sextet, seventh grade girls of Sweetland Center school.
Piano solo by Carolyn Stuart of Bayfield school.
Tap dance by Mary Jo Chalupa of Union No. 8 school.
Piano duet by Ann Wathan and Janet Day of Sweetland Center.
Cornet solo by Neil Hitchcock of Bayfield school, accompanied by Virginia Van Zandt.
Piano solo by Margaret Paul of Patterson school.
Class address by Rev. J. Arthur Eveland.
Piano solo by Grace Ann Arp of Patterson school.
Vocal solo by Martin Paul of Patterson school.
Piano solos by Carole Roush of the Lutheran Homes.
Presentation of honor students and class, County Superintendent Frank Ralston.
Awarding of diplomas, county board member Mervin Shafer.
Piano solo by Carole Reesink, of Bayfield school.
Electric guitar solo by Bobby Jones, Oak Grove school.
Tap dance duet, Karen and Murray Drum, Union No. 8 and Melpine schools.
Vocal duet by Zelda McFarland and Carole Roush of the Lutheran Homes.
Instrumental trio by girls from Fairview school.
Group of choir songs by 34th annual county rural chorus, directed by Mrs. William Van Ysseldyk, accompanied by Mrs. James Sywassink.
“America, The Beautiful,” by chorus and audience.
Benediction by Rev. J. Arthur Eveland.

The eighth grade graduates include David Bartenhagen, Karen Beukenhorst, Martin Ellison, Bonita Ann Bohnsack, Loren Bohnsack Carolyn Boorn, Charles Leslie Brockert, Keith Brown, Robert E. Brunson, Douglas L. Buchele, Wilbert Burmeister Jr., Patricia Ann Chalupa and Terry Ray Christian.
