Class of 1944

        The members in the senior class are: John Ellsworth (president), Geneva Foster (sec.-treas.), Genevieve McKillip (student council), Robert Ervin (student council), Twila Van Horn, Myrtle Collison (first semester), Raymond Sterner, and Dean Sterner.

        All of the Seniors played an important role in school activities.

        Members on the girls’ basketball team were: Genevieve McKillip (capt.), Twila Van Horn, and Geneva Foster. On the boys’ squad were: Dean Sterner (capt.), John Ellsworth (capt.), Robert Ervin, and Ray Sterner. Geneva Foster also was a cheer leader.

        Those participating in baseball and kittenball included: Ray Sterner, Dean Sterner, Robert Ervin, and John Ellsworth.

        The senior class also sponsored a picnic on September 29. The hayrack ride to the woods proved to be a lot of fun and the sunset supper was thoroughly enjoyed.

        Class members participated in an assembly program and community club program given by the speech class.

        Contributions to the Infantile Paralysis and Red Cross drives totaled 100%. The class also bought war stamps and bonds. The senior class of 1944 has chosen for its colors, red and white. The class flower, the carnation, is colored, white for the girls and red for the boys. “Step by step, one goes far” is the class motto.

        We’ve enjoyed our years at school and leave with many happy memories of good old A. H. S. ! !

Senior Class Will

        We, the members of the Class of 1944, having observed our time of departure drawing nigh, and having been found to possess sane (?) minds, wish to bequeath the following articles and conditions:

        To the Jabbering Junior-High---we wish to bequeath our extremely quiet ways and mannerisms;

        To the Frousy Freshmen---we wish to will our extreme neatness of dress;

        To the Silly Sophomores---we wish to leave our extreme equanimity and strength to face teachers in stormy four o’clock sessions;

        And to the Jealous Juniors---we wish to bequeath our place in the school’s limelight, the position of seniority, and the right to dominate all undergrads.

        I, Twila Van Horn, leave my nickname of “Granny” to Laurine Burns.

        I, Genevieve McKillip, bequeath my long, black hair (rarely combed) to Shirley Morrison.

        I, Geneva Foster, leave my quiet tone of voice to Arlene Roberts.

        I, Dean Sterner, leave my love notes to Dickie Ervin.

        I, Robert Ervin, bequeath my annual love affairs to Dick Carter (who already has a good start).

        I, John Ellsworth, leave my naturally curly hair to Jack Garvin.

        I, Raymond Sterner, will my prompt fulfillment of English assignments to Hal McKillip (with instructions to “carry on”).
