Muscatine County, Iowa

Several years ago, the Muscatine County Clerks Office gave a copy of the first seventeen rolls of Probate Records to Musser Public Library. At a point in time, the Clerk's Office had a the microfilm reader that had a gadget where one could key in the Blip number and it would take one directly to where that file was located on the microfilm. Then the Blip gadget broke and could not be replaced. Researchers were forced to go frame by frame in order to find the file on the film.

Gladys Mittman, a member of the Muscatine County Genealogical Society, created an index of these seventeen rolls in a manner that the information was able to be sorted by Roll number and Blip number, giving us the sequence of names on the roll. This makes finding the probate file so much easier!
