After the death of his father, sister and brother in 1918, he and his brothers, Jim Zybarth and Ed Zybarth, farmed with their mother until her death in 1927. Then he farmed with Jim and Ed.
On 11 May 1939, Pat Zybarth married Margaret Marie Pallischeck. She was the daughter of A. A. Pallischeck and Rose Krueger Pallischeck of Muscatine.
