He was appointed mayor of Nichols and has served since except for a two year term. Some of the things that have been put into effect while Warren Roth has been mayor are: getting natural gas to Nichols; two new fire trucks; new fire siren; new well and pump for the fire station and a new sanitary sewer. A special project of Warren’s was the new Community Building so the people could have a good place to have meetings.
The First Responder vehicle has been put in the old City hall. Warren is also vice chairman of the Muscatine County Crime Stoppers.

MAYOR WARREN ROTH
Nichols, Iowa Centennial Book 1884-1984, pages 143-144

“Moonbeams” is a publication for employees of the Procter and Gamble Company. The issue of January 1972 included a feature story on Warren Roth, Mayor of Nichols.
Nichols is a diminutive, quiet town of less than 400 people, where rich-producing cornfields come right up to the ends of the streets. Warren Roth, who has served as the town’s mayor for four consecutive terms, is one of Nichols’ best-known citizens.
To earn his $6 monthly salary as mayor, Warren handles a multitude of challenges and problems that thousands of other small-city mayors in this country face every day. For example, he helped to obtain a grant of $270,000 from the U. S. Department of Agriculture for new sewer facilities in Nichols – the first non-educational federal aid ever received by the community. Warren estimates that he spent 60 hours in one month last year just getting petitions signed for money for the sewer grant.
As a member of the Muscatine County Crime Commission, Warren helped set up programs for training police officers, instituted drug addict rehabilitation and effected improvements in the county jail and court facilities. He is also secretary-treasurer of the Nichols Volunteer Fire Department, which is responsible for covering a city and rural area of 50 square miles. Since Warren has been in office, two new fire trucks have been added to the department’s stable of fire-fighting equipment.
Warren has been at our Iowa City facility since it started up 15 years ago. He has trained a dozen new employees in the toilet goods plant’s mechanical shop during this period.
