MARY RUTH ELDER
Nichols, Iowa Centennial Book 1884-1984, page 210
By Frances ElderMary Ruth Elder, daughter of John Elder and Clara Shellabarger Elder, was born 27 November 1894 two miles south of Nichols. She was married to Earl Ray Waggoner on 11 February 1920 at the Elder home south of Nichols. Earl Waggoner was born 9 January 1895 and died 29 January 1958 at Primghar, Iowa.
Mary Elder attended Teachers college at Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Iowa State college at Ames, Iowa. She taught country school south of Nichols. After her marriage the moved to Primghar, Iowa, where they farmed. After farming, they were in the quarry and road construction business. She lived, retired, in Primghar until her death 1 April 1977. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Methodist church.
John Elder Waggoner, son of Mary and Earl Waggoner, married Marilyn Lillian Muff at Wausau, Wisconsin. They live in Central City, Iowa [1984]. Their children are John Waggoner, Julia Waggoner and Christine Waggoner.
Louise Ellen Waggoner, daughter of Mary and Earl Waggoner married Lowell A. Sorensen. They live in Upland, California. Their children are Mary Linda Sorensen, Mark Earl Sorensen and Thomas Jacob Sorensen.
