By Monica PetersenMr. and Mrs. Milton Petersen (she was formerly Carol Braun) came to the Nichols community after living in Denison, Council Bluffs and Creston, Iowa, and Columbia, Missouri.
Carol grew up on a farm in the Nichols community. She is the daughter of Roy Braun and Cecelia Braun. Carol attended Buffalo Bluff school, a one room country school, through the fourth grade before transferring to the Nichols Public school system and graduated from Nichols High school. Carol worked as a receptionist and secretary in Iowa City for several years before she met Milton Petersen, who was a social worker. Milton received his undergraduate degree from Colorado State university and did graduate work at the University of Missouri. They were married at the Little Brown church in Nashua, Iowa.
Milton Petersen and Carol Petersen are the parents of two children, Wade Petersen and Monica Petersen. Wade Petersen, the oldest, is a computer specialist with the United States Air Force. He recently [1984] returned from overseas duty in Alaska and is now stationed in Panama City, Florida. He married Debra Sue Small of Muscatine.
Monica Petersen is a graduate of the West Liberty High school. Her school activities included Library club, marching, pep and concert bands, Science club and writing for the Blue and White, school paper.
