LOUIS MILDER FAMILY

         Bernard Arnold Milder was born in Muscatine county on 3 March 1886, the son of Henry Milder and Mary Epping Milder. Sponsors for Bernard Milder’s baptism were Arnold Flentrap and Minna Brugman. Taxes for one hundred acres of ground paid March 1920 were $58.69.
         Bernard Milder’s brothers were Stephen Milder, William Milder and George Milder, and his sister was Cecelia Milder Schaapveld.
         Bernard had half brothers and sisters whose parents were George Lindemann (who was born in Germany in 1850) and Mary Epping Lindemann. Their names were Rickie Lindemann Mumm, Mary Lindemann Kaalberg, Frances Lindemann Wieskamp and brothers Joe Lindemann and John Lindemann.
         Mary Epping’s first husband was George Lindemann. Mary and George were crossing a bridge in Buena Vista, which was near Grand Mound, Iowa, when he suffered a stroke, fell into the creek and was drowned. A few years later, Mary Epping Lindemann married Henry Milder.
         Bernard Mlder died at his family home in Nichols as the result of a stroke on 10 November 1962.
         Lena Marie Salemink was born in Muscatine county on 23 February 1876, the daughter of Henry Salemink and Mary Wieskamp Salemink. Her brothers were Henry Salemink, John Salemink and Theodore Salemink. Lena died at the family home in Nichols on 25 September 1943.
         Bernard Milder and Lena Salemink were united in marriage on 7 February 1917 at St. Mary’s church by the Rev. M. W. Kissane. Their attendants were Henry Salemink and Cecelia Milder.
         Bernard and Lena had one son, Louis Milder, who was born 12 February 1919. He attended Wild Rose school, Nichols High school and Chillicothe Business college in Missouri. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps from 7 April 1942 until 10 October 1945 in the Aleutian islands.
         Louis Milder married Catherine Schloemer in St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Davenport. They adopted three children. Jerry Milder was born in Johnson county on 22 September 1955 and died on 7 May 1959. Mary Kay Milder and Joseph Milder were both born in Italy. Mary is now married to Matt Feeney and living in Davenport, Iowa. Joe is single and living at home with his parents [1984].
         Louis Milder is employed by Mel Foster Company, doing accounting, selling real estate and insurance.
