LaMOYNE KIRCHNER FAMILY

         LaMoyne V. Kirchner, son of George Kirchner (1896) and Marie Brown Kirchner (1900), was born 14 January 1925. He has two brothers, Ralph Kirchner and Lloyd Kirchner. He lives on the home place, two miles north and one mile west of Nichols, which was built by his grandparents, Fred Kirchner and Augusta Kirchner. He farmed with his parents until they retired and moved to West Liberty.
         LaMoyne served in the Army and was in the Army Reserve for eleven years. He was on the Nichols School board for twelve years. He is a life member of the Nichols United Methodist church, serving on the Church board in different capacities.
         LaMoyne and Dorothy Jean Holliday of Muscatine Island were married. Dorothy Jean has been a Cub Scout leader, 4-H leader and Nichols United Methodist Sunday school teacher, board member and member and officer of United Methodist Women.
         The Kirchners have two children: Kurt Kirchner and Karen Kirchner.
         Kurt Kirchner attended grade school at Nichols and graduated from West Liberty High school. He was a member of Pike Plucky Pikers 4-H club and Cub Scouts. At school, he participated in basketball for six years, baseball for three years, F. F. A. for four years, including one year as secretary and one year as president. He was F. F. A. Snow Prince in his junior year of high school. He attended Muscatine Community college for two years.
         Kurt Kirchner and Susan Heick were married. They have two children, a daughter Erin Lea Kirchner, and a son Andrew Kyle Kirchner. Kurt is assistant manager of Twin States Liquid Grow of Walcott. The family lives in West Liberty.
         Karen Kirchner attended grade school at Nichols and was graduated from West Liberty High school. She went to Kirkwood Community college in Cedar Rapids, majoring in floral design. Karen was a member of Pike Peppy Pals 4-H club for nine years. She played basketball for three years and was basketball team manager for three years; she played softball for five years and participated in track for three years, band for four years, chorus and West Liberty Singers for one year.
         Karen Kirchner married Don Forbes. They live in West Liberty. He works for Farm Service in Nichols, and she works at Miller Florist in Muscatine.
         In 1977-78, the LaMoyne Kirchner family hosted a foreign exchange student from Peru, South America, Nelida Cueva. She graduated with her class at West Liberty High school before she returned home.
