JOSEPH HENRY SCHAAPVELD

By Greg WieskampGrandfather Joseph Henry Schaapveld was born 19 December 1885 at Lone Tree, a son of William Schaapveld and Anna Jehle Schaapveld.
Mary Frances Hiebing was born 21 April 1889 at Davenport, a daughter of John Hiebing and Gertrude Westendorf Hiebing.
Joseph and Mary were married 15 June 1910 at Nichols. They farmed in the Lone Tree area until 1923, then farmed in the Nichols area until 1936. The Schaapveld family moved to a farm near Muscatine and farmed until their retirement in 1949, when they moved to Muscatine. Joseph died 15 November 1960, and Mary died 13 September 1967. Both are buried at St. Mary’s cemetery, Nichols.
Joseph and Mary Schaapveld had seven children:
Mildred Gertrude Schaapveld, born 17 May 1911 in Lone Tree, and died 19 March 1983 in Muscatine. She was married to Bernard Bekker.
Marcella Anna Schaapveld was born 19 January 1913 at Lone Tree. She is married to Edward Wieskamp and is living in Muscatine.
Raymond Joseph Schaapveld was born 27 December 1915 at Lone Tree and died 14 November 1978 at Muscatine. He married Delores Witte.
Edward William Schaapveld was born 9 December 1917 at Lone Tree. He is married to Genevieve Beach and is living at Grove, Oklahoma.
Valeria Marie Schaapveld was born 27 July 1919 at Lone Tree; she died 10 April 1980 in Muscatine. She was married to Bernard Wieskamp.
Cecil Robert Schaapveld was born 2 March 1922 at Lone Tree. He is married to Delores Fabrizus and is living in Muscatine.
