JOHN HUDSON FAMILY

         John Howard Hudson was born in Trinidad, Colorado. His family moved around until they finally settled in Muscatine. John is the son of the late John Dean Hudson of Atalissa and Pearl Minton of Muscatine. John has two sisters living in Muscatine.
         Nina May Herlien Hudson was born in Muscatine, Iowa. She is the daughter of Howard “Jim” Herlien and the late Marie Haynes Herlien of Muscatine. Nina has one brother and one sister, both living in Muscatine.
         John and Nina were married in Muscatine, where they lived until they moved to Nichols with their five children. They moved to 510 Main street, where they still reside.
         John and Nina bought Johnston’s Custom Butchering from Everett Johnston. They ran Hudson’s Custom Butchering for 14 years, when they sold the property to Chowns. Of course, all the children helped at the shop.
         John served on the Nichols Volunteer Fire department for 18 years. He is now working in construction with his sons. Nine is cooking for the Iowa Hawkeyes at Hillcrest Dining Service at The University of Iowa in Iowa City. John and Nina now have six children, all living in the area.
         Christine Marie Hudson graduated from West Liberty High school and attended Muscatine Community college. She worked at Newt’s Café for five years before going to work at Coffee Town Restaurant near West Liberty, where she is still [1984] employed. Christine Marie Hudson and Wayne Eugene Wilson of Red Oak, Iowa, were married at the Nichols Methodist church by Rev. Jerry Allsup. Wayne served in the United States Army for three years before attending and graduating from Buena Vista college, Storm Lake, Iowa, in accounting. He is now employed at Louis Rich Foods at West Liberty. Chris and Wayne live at 509 Broadway in Nichols.
         Don Howard Hudson graduated from San Diego High school. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. In the four years that he was away from home, he traveled all over the world, including Germany, Phillippines, across the equator and Norway. Corporal Don H. Hudson was awarded the Meritorious Mast for outstanding service in commanding his squad. He also received the Good Conduct medal. He specialized in demolition. Don is now living at home and working with his father.
         Katharine May Hudson graduated from West Liberty High school. Kate and Tracy Paul Madsen of Atalissa were married at the Nichols Methodist church by Rev. Lyle Ball. Tracy also graduated from West Liberty High school and attended Muscatine Community college. Kate and Tracy lost twin boys, Russel John Madsen and Paul Michael Madsen at birth. They now live in Atalissa with their three children: James Edward Madsen; Suzanne Marie Madsen, and Troy Paul Madsen.
         Joe Rogers Hudson served in the United States Army for 1 ½ years; he has also been in Germany. Joe lives at home and works for Chuck Skiffington at Iowa City.
         John William Hudson lives at home and works with his father.
         Casey Leroy Hudson lives at home. He has been awarded the President’s Physical Fitness award for three years.
