         Henry Loren Brown was born 23 October 1920. He farmed south of Nichols all his life, with the exception of three years in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Marion Van Zandt. He and his wife have lived in Muscatine.
         Loren Brown and Marion Brown have three children: Barbara Kay Brown, Robert Leroy Brown and Dennis Judson Brown.
         Barbara Kay Brown married Bruce Dougal. Their children are Brian Matthew Dougal and Eric Robert Dougal. Barbara and her family live in Janesville, Wisconsin. She is a business education teacher at Parker High school. Bruce is in business selling irrigation systems and IBM computers.
         Robert Leroy Brown is a senior lab technician at Monsanto and also operates the family farm.
         Dennis Judson Brown is in Santa Cruz, California at the University of California nearing completion of his Ph. D. degree in biology [1984].
         Loren’s parents were Towney N. Brown (17 June 1890-1 February 1969) and Merle Colbert Brown (20 February 1893-13 June 1972). His grandparents were Henry Judson Brown and Lucy Elder Brown and Henry Marcers Colbert and Lucina Carl Colbert. He has one brother, Townsend M. Brown, who lives at Nichols.
