ERNEST KIRCHNER FAMILY

         Frederick Kirchner and Barbara Kirchner were the first of the family to own the farm located on the northwest quarter of Section 4 in Township 77 North Range 4 West, Pike township. They took possession of the 160 acres 1 March 1878.
         Fred Kirchner and Gusta Kirchner were the next owners of the farm. Frederick Kirchner died in July 1895. Fred was a son of Fredrick and Barbary. Fred Jr. died 17 May 1913, leaving his estate to his wife, Gusta, and their children, George Kirchner, Charley Kirchner, Ernest Kirchner, Leona Kirchner and Wilma Kirchner. Charley Kirchner died 7 December 1918.
         On 24 January 1930 Ernest A. Kirchner received a warranty deed to the 160 acres from Gusta Kirchner, George Kirchner and his wife, Marie Kirchner, Leona Kirchner and her husband, Rudolph Doering and Wilma Kirchner and her husband, Frank Mills.
         Ernest Kirchner and Lorraine Smith Kirchner were parents of Jayne Elizabeth Kirchner, Lucille Ruth Kirchner, Virgil A. Kirchner and Bruce G. Kirchner. Ernest and Lorraine moved to Nichols wehre they lived in the remodeled house, which had belonged to Lorraine’s mother, Marretta Smith. Ernest Kirchner died 2 June 1976 at 76 years of age; Lorraine Kirchner died 24 July 1982 at 83 years of age.
         The title of the farm was transferred to Virgil Kirchner and Dorotha Kirchner.
         Jayne Kirchner, daughter of Ernest and Lorraine Kirchner, married Francis Burke. They are living in Nashville, Tennessee, where they are in real estate. They have one son, Larry Jay Burke, who is married. Larry Burke and Daleen Burke have two children, Heather Burke and L. J. Burke.
         Lucille Kirchner, daughter of Ernest and Lorraine Kirchner, is married to Marion L. “Ferd” Green of Lone Tree. He is a carpenter and is well known for his grandfather clocks. They have two children. Rory Green is married to Ron Hughes, and their children are Brent Hughes and Sherri Hughes. They live in Michigan.
         Bruce G. Kirchner, son of Ernest and Lorraine Kirchner, married Mary Jean Slofer of Solon, Iowa. They live in Lone Tree. Their daughter, Kathy Kay Kirchner, is married to Nick and they live at Hills, Iowa.
         Virgil A. Kirchner, son of Ernest and Lorraine Kirchner, is married to Dorotha L. Ball; they have five children.
         Vicky Ann Kirchner, daughter of Virgil and Dorothy Kirchner, is married to Dr. Robert A. Mason, D. D. S. They have two children, Amy Elizabeth Mason and James Lucas “Luke” Mason. They are living in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
         David A. Kirchner, son of Virgil and Dorotha Kirchner, is married to Brenda L. Harris of Burlington, Iowa. Their son is Ryan David Kirchner. They live in Muscatine.
         Terry Lynn Kirchner, daughter of Virgil and Dorotha Kirchner, married Kenneth W. Gibson of Hibbing, Minnesota. They have two sons, Seth Andrew Gisbon and Mark David Gibson. They live in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
         Laura Gail Kirchner, daughter of Virgil and Dorotha Kirchner, married Dr. C. David Jackson, a pediatrician. They have one son, Aaron Reid Jackson. They live in Little Rock, Arkansas.
         Lisa Sue Kirchner, daughter of Virgil and Dorotha Kirchner, is married to Timothy J. Yerington of Muscatine. Their children are Thomas John Yerington and Elizabeth Ann Yerington. They purchased Ernest and Lorraine Kirchner’s house in Nichols, where they are living.
         The children of Virgil and Dorotha Kirchner are the fifth generation to be raised on the farm since 1877.
