         John Deahr and Mary Stevens were married in Germany in 1847. They immigrated to America that same year. John and Mary lived in Ohio for two years before they moved to Iowa, residing in Goshen township in Muscatine county. A few years later they moved to eastern Pike township to a farm now known as the Ed Eichelerger farm on Highway 70.
         John and Mary Deahr were parents of nine children, four of whom grew to be adults. George Deahr died when he was 17 years old, and he was buried with his parents in the Nichols cemetery. There were three daughters: Eva Deahr, Mrs. Martin Robshaw; Mary Deahr, Mrs. Nicholas Lewis, and Kate Deahr, Mrs. Bill Griggs.
         Another son, Adam Deahr, farmed in eastern Pike township nearly all his life. When Adam was 22 years old, he lost his left arm in a hunting accident. He later married Sarah Robshaw. Adam and Sarah Deahr had eleven children, three dying in infancy. The surviving children were Luther M. Deahr, Mary Deahr Janney, Katie Deahr, Charles Deahr, Annie E. Deahr, Lizzie Deahr Meyers, Maggie Deahr Meyers and Minnie Deahr Age.
         Adam Deahr died 30 March 1925 at his home in Pike township.
         Luther Deahr married Sarah Davis. They had one daughter, Elizabeth Deahr. All are buried in the West Liberty cemetery.
         Mary Deahr married George Janney. They had two children, Lester Janney and Loran Janney.
         Katie Deahr never married; she spent most of her life in eastern Pike township.
         Annie Deahr did not marry and also spent most of her life in eastern Pike township.
         Lizzie Deahr married Henry Meyers. They were parents of four children: Margaret Meyers Van Atta, Clinton Meyers, Alberta Meyers Ping Peters and Clifton Meyers.
         Maggie Deahr married Fred Meyers. They had no children. They farmed for many years in Pike township.
         Minnie Deahr married Forest Age; they had no children.
         Charles Deahr married Margaret Ethel Smith. They were parents of three children: Lloyd Deahr, Lyle Deahr and Earl Deahr.
         Lyle Deahr married Ruth Erickson. They were parents of Ronald Deahr, Dennis Deahr and Howard Deahr. Lyle lived his entire adult life in Chicago.
         Earl Deahr married Lily Yedlik. They were parents of one daughter, Betty Deahr, who married James Phillips. Earl farmed near Muscatine for many years.
         Lloyd Deahr married Mildred Adams. They are parents of four children: Lloyd Deahr, Jr., Norma Deahr, Beatrice Deahr and Vernon Deahr.
         Lloyd Deahr, Jr., lives and farms in Pike township. They have three children.
         Norma Deahr has four children. She is married to David Bell of Muscatine.
         Beatrice Deahr has six children, and she is married to Wes Morse of Muscatine.
         Vernon Deahr of Muscatine married Carol Jones, and they are parents of four children.
         Jeffrey Deahr married Mary Clarahan, and they live at Rochester, Minnesota.
        Joy Deahr, Justin Deahr and Julie Deahr all live in Muscatine.
         Lloyd and Mildred Deahr farmed in Pike township for many years. They now live on Route 5 in Muscatine.
