CHARLES PIKE FAMILY
Nichols, Iowa Centennial Book 1884-1984, pages 286-287
By Lenore Milder Pike

Charles Lullen Pike was born 8 April 1882 to Albert and Matilda Kile Pike. His parents farmed southeast of Nichols. He had two brothers, William Pike and Clarence pike, and two sisters, Della Pike and Nellie Pike.
Charlie was a Pike township farmer all his life except for two years when he owned and operated a restaurant in Hayfield, Minnesota. He was a member of the Masons and the Odd Fellows Lodge of Nichols. He loved to umpire the school baseball games. He also played the violin for many country dances. He was an avid fisherman and card player.
He married Goldie Bell Watkins in 1904 in Nichols. She was a member of the Christian church, Eastern Star and Rebecca Lodge. Her forte was making angel food cakes, noodles and fishing. She also chorded on the piano for local dances while her husband, Charlie, and Bill Poole played their violins. She also was able to enjoy cooking at the Nichols school many years for their hot lunch program.
Their son, Albert Chester Pike, was born 3 November 1913. He, too, was a farmer, working the home place of 120 acres south of Nichols. When they moved to the Stephen Milder farm, he also operated that 160 acres. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and all kinds of sports, particularly bowling, baseball and basketball.
Albert Pike and Lenore Milder were married. They had three daughters, Camilla Lucille Pike, Rowena Marie Pike and Lorna Kaye Pike. One son, Michael Allen Pike, was born and died three months later. Albert and Lenore are retired and living on their farm [1984].
Camilla Pike married Gary Smith. They have four children: Kristine Smith, Craig Smith, Steven Smith and Shari Smith.
Rowena Pike married Bernard Prybil of Iowa City, a farmer. Their three daughters are Lora Prybil, Tonya Prybil and Sandi Prybil.
Lorna Pike married Dwight Krueger, and they have four children: Phillip Krueger, Dawn Krueger, Brian Krueger and Sean Krueger. They were divorced ten years later. Lorna lives in Coralville, Iowa.
