Sullivan---O'BrienThis morning at St. Matthias church the wedding vows of Daniel Francis Sullivan and Miss Mary Catherine O'Brien were solomnized by Rev. Father Shannahan. Shortly after 9 o'clock the bridal party marched down the aisle keeping time to the wedding march evoked from the organ in artistic harmony by the skillful fingers of Miss Laurent. The bridal party consisted of the bride and groom and Miss Anna O'Brien, sister of the bride, and J. W. Sullivan, of Algona, a brother of the groom. They were met at the altar by Rev. Shannahan, of St. Ambrose college, at Davenport, and a cousin of the bride, who with all due solemnity pronounced the ceremony that made them husband and wife. Miss M. Felicitas Mackey, with exquisite sweetness, sang two superb solos, which thrilled those assembled to witness the ceremony.
At the conclusion the wedding party went to the home of the bride's father, Daniel O'Brien, at the corner of East Fifth and Mulberry street, where at noon a wedding feast was spread.
The bride was dressed in point-de-sprit, over white taffeta silk with trimmings of white satin. Her bridal veil was of white silk illusion and she carried bride roses.
The church decorations were those used for the Christmas exercises and those at the residence were of pink and white. The wedding ring of the bride was made of gold mined by her father in California nearly 50 years ago.
The groom at one time lived at Nichols, but for some time past has made his home at Iowa City, where he was engaged in the real estate business. Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan will leave tonight for an extended trip through the south, before going to Denver, Colo., where they will make their future home.
The relatives from abroad were: Dr. Berry, of Algona, and his sister, Miss Berry, of Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Sullivan, of Algona; D. C. Sullivan, of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Sullivan, mother of the groom, and her two daughters, Misses Katie and Nellie, of Iowa City; D. J. O'Brien, of Algona; E. J. Shannahan, of Iowa City, and Rev. W. P. Shannahan, of Davenport.
