The Double wedding was held December 19, 1883. --- At the residence of the brides' parents in Lake township, Muscatine county, by the Rev. D. A. Watters, Mr. J. S. Hitchcock, to Miss Abbie H. McCloud, and Mr. Frank McBride to Miss Anna G. McCloud, all of Lake township. The many friends in this city of the parties to this dual ceremony distinguished by the nuptial vows of two sisters, and the no less warm friends of the house where these vows were spoken will hasten to (can't read word) compliments and congratulations.
Muscatine retains an warm place in her heart for ex-sheriff D. G. McCloud and family and in-disposed to dispute priority of claim with Lake, to the right of giving away these brides, though if the precedence were given to the city it is doubtful if she would have given them away at all. But Lake is not so far away that the magnet of this hospitable home has failed to make its life and pleasures part of Muscatine society, and so the brides of last evening have grown up in the esteem and affection of a large circles of acquaintances in the city and our circles are vocal with the bright good wishes which hail this wedding of the sisters.
The grooms are representatives of two of our county's leading families and of homes which have contributed to give their township its enviable reputation. It is a matter of special congratulations that the graces which have made the old Lake home so beautiful are not to be carried away as the prize of some distinguished land but will continue to lend their charms to the adornment of two new homes in our county.
