JOHN H. STRONG John attended Old Garfield back in the 1930's and tells us that Ms. Othmer was principal and also had teachers Miss Asp and Miss Rothenthal. He did not go onto High school. Instead he went to work for ole Orville Ketchum, Rodger Sadansky, Richards Coal Company and Roach Musser Lumber Company. He then served his country during World War II from 1944 thru 1946, serving in Germany with the 8th Armored Division, 7th Infantry Battalion.
On September 7, 1946 he then married a pretty young miss by the name of Deloris and they just celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1996. John and Deloris have no children. After their marriage John worked for several feed companies including Kent Feeds, Sweetland Feeds for the next 21 years and retiring from Kent Feeds in 1986. Deloris worked for Northwestern Bell Phone company for 30 years prior to their retirement.
They enjoy traveling and have been to Florida, California, Colorado, Missouri, Wisconsin and Minnesota. They have also taken bus tours. In March of 1997 they will have been retired 11 years. They are looking forward to the Old Garfield Reunion.
