CARL STRAUSE Carl Strause enlisted in the United States Army on 6 October 1954 and spent the next three years serving his country. During those three years he was stationed at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas and then on to Fort Lee, Virginia where he married Mary Beverly Burns who hailed from the little town of Franklin, Tennessee just outside of Nashville. After a short honeymoon he received orders to report to Korea, but his assignment was changed for him to report to Japan instead. He spent the next eighteen months in Japan before returning to the U. S. for separation from the U. S. Army.
He lived in Nashville, Tennessee for the next fifteen months and decided he would join the United States Air Force in 7 July 1958. He stayed in the USAF for the next seventeen years retiring in August of 1975. During his years in the Air Force he was stationed at Offutt AFB, Ne; Robbins AFB, Ga; Tuy Hoa, Vietnam, Langley AFB, Va and finally retiring from Richards-Gebaur AFB, Mo.
After his retirement he went to Pittsburgh State University in Kansas graduating in 1978. His first wife of 23 years died suddenly in 1980 and he moved to Yorkville, Illinois. He operated an Upholstery shop for 10 years and decided to go back to school. He started School at age 57 and graduated in 1995 with Computer Science degree. He also married Darlene Robbins in 1986. He now works for Grow Mark INC, a division of Archer Daniels Midland. He has 3 children; 2 boys and 1 girl.
