GOLDIE SWANK SLACK

    I got Goldie's information while visiting my mother the week-end of June 7-8, 97 and this is her story. Goldie went to Old Garfield's from 1919 thru 1925 grades k thru 6. Her 7th and 8th grades were at Franklin as was with many other students during her time. She also stated that since there were so many 3rd graders they went to a one room school on Stewart Road between the Schmidt's and Hurlbut's. This school is no longer in existence. Goldie went to school till she as 16 years old and then she went to work for Mangus Cleaners while going to part time school. In 1933 she married Paul Slack and they were married until Paul's death in 1987. From this marriage came 2 boys and 3 girls. These children gave Goldie 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is very active with the Musserville Methodist Church in South-end and is looking forward to seeing old classmates and friends at the Old Garfield reunion.
