RUSSEL EUGENE LEWIS Russel Eugene Lewis passed away in 1988 after a long illness at the age of 56. He achieved his High School Diploma by passing his GED. He served in the U. S. Army for 3 years. Thirteen months of that time was spent in Korea where he became 80% disabled with poor kidney function. In March of 1955 he married Valli Hill and they had 4 children, Tim, Laurie, Valerie and Jeanne Lewis. These 4 children gave them 6 grandchildren, 3 boys and 3 girls. Farming was his main interest in life. He farmed for his brother- in-law in Conesville, Ia. and on the farm on the Muscatine Island for many years. He raised row crops, hogs and livestock. He also worked for Northern Gravel, Hon Ind., and GPC until he became totally disabled in 1967. He resided on his farm on the Island at the time of his death. Today Russell is in heaven with his Mother, Father, brothers Alfred, Roy and sister Viola (Tootie). Life was good to him, and his fond memories of Garfield School, living in South-end and his love for farming and working helped him to become the loving father and husband he was. Russel was a God fearing man and was kind and helpful to many people. His memory will live on for many years to come.
