RON EVANS

    Ron started his own business, Evans Service Center & Muffler Shop on the corner of 4th and Sycamore Streets in Muscatine and was there for 40 years before retiring in 1988. Ron married a very good woman by the name of Doris Gorman and they have been married 43 years. This marriage produced 2 boys and 1 girl. Ron said that his wife was with him in business 100%. Ron says he remembers many things about South-end, especially the 3 hole Out Houses, Laws Grocery, Hawks Hill, Kempers Pond and GPC when it was mostly sand hills on Maple Grove road. Ron went to Old Garfield thru 4th grade before moving to Zion Lutheran and then on to High School. Foot note: When Ron reached the 6th grade and won the marble champion ship for Zion Lutheran, one of his opponents for the city champion ship was Carl Strause, who won the Garfield championship and went on to win the City championship.
