FRANK DAVIS

Frank Davis left Muscatine to warmer weather and some very historical places. I have tried to fit the right icon for him as he has done so much. He learned the Mechanic trade and worked for Muscatine Buick and Chuck Hepker at Cedar Street Auto Service, which used to be the Old Nash Garage. Between them two he had 12 years of work. He has lived in Northern California for 37 years. He and Donna have been married for 5 years. Frank retired in 1989 and writes poetry and some lyrics for western music. He also likes to fish, cut wood for his cabin and other related chores to living in a camp site.

Frank writes this to me and I have to include it in this biography that I am doing. Frank remembers the janitor who stood in the doorway entrance between the two lines of kids and every last one of us touched his out stretched hand. Frank also remembers that if you got in trouble with Ms. Othmer the word was out that she had a razor strap to swat your behind with and if that didn't work then it was to the old ringer washer and she would turn it on. How many of you can remembers back that far. Frank said that he was a believer.

Some of Frank's teachers were: Principal-Ms. Othmer, Miss Coleman, Miss Sywassink, Miss Rosenthal; and Miss Asp. Roudy Thompson (Cop in South End) & Mr Rasmussin (Bus Driver).

He also listed some of the kids that went to school with him. Some I heard of some I did not.

"FRANKIE"

I can't ever get caught up
I'm spinning my wheels a lot
It seems I'm in a rut
Soon my day is shot.

I get up in time for coffee
But it takes an hour or two
To drink and read the paper
Half the morning is shot.

Too late to start a project
Or finish a thing or two
The sun is up and getting hot
Its time for another brew.

My afternoons are lazy
I'm always hanging crepe
I've taken so many breaks
I'm getting out of shape.

The work will still be there
When tomorrow comes around
I'll just find a place to hide
Stay there till I'm found.

If I didn't start these projects
I'd have more time to play
But if I don't get started soon
Its going to be hell to pay.

Last nite I turned in early
To try to rest my brain
Got up a felling chipper
Damned if it didn't rain.
