The Moscow Cemetery records have been evolving over time, thanks to the efforts of those done in 1980 and Dave Dunston on July 23, 2001. In November, 2012, another group consisting of Ron Dunnahoo, Lynn McCleary, Brandon Schoenfeld and Hayden Heap took over 550 photos of gravestones. The first burial in this place was that of Silas Webster who died 28 Jun 1837. However Moscow Cemetery was not offically surveyed & platted until November 21-22-23, 1899 by R. H. McCampbell, Co. Surveryor. It was filed for record Jany. 13, 1900 at the Muscatine County Recorders' Office. It showed the location of lots 1 thru 89. View Plat Map of 1899.
In 1978 the cemetery map was updated to indicate the 'new section' of lots numbering from 90 to 139. Most of these were on the west side of Center Street.
As the stones were photographed it became apparent that not all lots were noted on the map. The largest unplatted area was located in the south east corner across the hill top. The newly identified lots are indicated by numbers starting at 500. View New Cemetery Map
