ALFRED TUNISON, far., Sec 33; P. O. Sweetland Center; born in Sussex Co., N. J. April 2, 1831; the second son of Henry Tunison and Ann Simmons; his mother died when he was 6 years of age; he lived with an aunt until 14 years of age, then started life for himself; came to Michigan where he worked by the month until he had $300; came to Muscatine Co., Nov. 10,1853, and purchased eighty acres of land, now the J. B. Jester farm, which he improved; sold and bought 160 acres, where he now lives, and improved it; he hods the office of Assessor. Married Miss Mary Ross March 25, 1855; she was born in Dearborn Co., Ind, Oct 21, 1834; have one son and two daughters--Harvey, Ella and Carrie, and one deceased--George. Mrs. T. is a member of the M.E. Church; Mr. T. is a Democrat.
