ALFRED NYE, far., Sec.31; P. O. Melpine; born in Washington Co. Vt., in 1811; removed to Muscatine Co.in 1837, and settled at Fairport, remained ten years, and removed to where he now lives in 1847. Married Miss Sarah Silverthorn in 1853; born in Northampton Co.,Penn, in 1822; have six sons and one daughter---Oriana A.(now Mrs. Abbot), Mahlon, Albert W., Walter H., Willie G., Reuben E., Fred A. Mr. and Mrs Nye are members of the Christian Church. Mr. Nye owns 500 acres of fine farm land; has improved 600 acres in the county. Democrat.
