THOMAS GRETT, proprietor of the Pennsylvania House, Front street; Mr. Grett is a native of Limerick, Ireland, born in 1823; when 16 years of age he engaged in a sea-faring life, and followed it until he was in his 26th year, being engaged as navigator the principal portion of the time; in 1849, he settled in Drury Tp., Rock Island CO., Ill., where he engaged in farming until 1875, in which year he came to Muscatine. Mr. Grett married in Boston Mass., Miss Catherine Flaming; they have eight children--- George A., ( now Mrs. Jas, Williams ), Thomas S., William H., James, Richard, Frances Maria, (now Mrs. D. Collard ), Catherine J.,and John E. Mr. Grett and wife are members of the Catholic Church; Politically, Mr. Grett is a Democrat.
