HENRY GETTERT, farmer, Sec. 5; P. O. Sweetland Center; born in Germany in 1826; came to Muscatine Co. in 1854 and settled in Montpelier Tp., where he remained until 1865, then removed where he now resides; owns 280 acres, which he has improved. Married Miss A. Fechner in 1860; she was born in Prussia in 1835; have five children--Mary, Annie, Jacob, Augusta and John. Mr. and Mrs. G. are members of a Protestant church; Mr. G. is a Democrat.
