THE WILTON ADVOCATE. E. W. Clark, Publisher and proprietor. Advertisements inserted at reasonable rates. Neat printing done in our job department. | WILTON is a modest, but thrifty and ambitious city of 1,500 inhabitants, located in Muscatine Co., Iowa, at the Junction of the Omaha and Kansas City divisions of the Great Rock Island Route, 25 miles west of Davenport and Rock Island, 25 miles east of Iowa City, 50 miles from Cedar Rapids, 12 miles north of Muscatine and 208 miles west of Chicago. It is the seat of the popular and flourishing Wilton College, founded by the German Congregationalists of the Northwest, and also has an excellent public school. The city is lighted by electricity, and supplied with pure water from an artesian well 1,800 feet deep. Water and lighting plants both owned and controlled by the city. It has eight churches in which service is regularly held. It has two banks, opera house, three mills, and it is in the midst of one of the most fertile sections of the state, and is widely known as a fine stock market. There is great opportunity here for more manufactories and other paying industries. In the immediate vicinity of Wilton are found some of the finest stock farms in this state, and both fancy horses and cattle are bred and shipped from this point in large quantities. Wilton is an ideal residence town, offering the convenience of city life and one of its drawbacks. | WILTON REVIEW and JOB PRINTING OFFICE Since 1867, Best Advertising Medium. C. D. Eaton, Prop. |
