Muscatine High Bridge and the Ferry Company Compete for Customers.

STILL IN THE RING.

From Monday’s Daily. - Hearing that the Ferry Company had reduced its rates to those made by the Bridge Company, a JOURNAL Reporter interviewed Capt. Eaton this morning. In answer to the query, “had they reduced their fares,” Capt. Eaton said “Yes, Sir, we have, and shall continue to make it just as cheap for people to cross on the ferry as on the bridge. We are here and intend to stay for the present, and are not at all worried over the competition of the bridge, as we expect to get our share of the traffic. People who leave tams on the other side of the river would much prefer to have their purchases taken over on the boat rather than carry them over on their backs. His fact has been demonstrated this morning to my satisfaction and from hearing passengers talk. Tell the good people we are still afloat, with steam up.”
