MUSCATINE COUNTY IOWA

HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI

The following information was from "THE AURORAN", Vol. 1, No. 1, Muscatine, Iowa, October 1907. A section called "THE ALUMNI". This is a year book for the Muscatine High School.

*NOTE: Some of the names were not spelled correctly from this article, so Norma Rogers sent me the actual names from the High School records, and I have corrected those names here. Thanks Norma, for sending this additional information.

January Class of 1907

There are thirteen members in the January class of 1907, seven girls and six boys.

Five of the girls of this class have taken up the cadet work and are preparing to be teachers. They are:

Lulu I. Radebaugh

Mabel E. Stark

Nellie M. Anlschlager

Mary R. Bleeden

Christina Gehrke

Frances N. Nietzel--occupied a responsible position in Bennison's dry goods store.

Ida E. Appel--is staying home just now and is studying music.

Of the boys, three have gone away to school.

Harry H. Springer--is taking a course in medicine at Iowa City.

Robert S. Jackson--is also attending the state institution, taking a classical course preparatory to entering one of the eastern colleges.

James A. Farnsworth--is in Ithica, N. Y., at Cornell College and intends to finish with a law course probably some place in the west.

Edward T. Hughes--has been unusually fortunate in securing a position and so for the present will not enter any college. He has been advanced to the splendid position of cashier in the Citizens' Railway and Freight company.

Charles E. Nyenhuis--is employed by the Muscatine Lumber and Box Company.

Hugh B. Holcomb--is taking a course in correspondence in the law office of Brown and Brown.

June Class of 1907

The June class of '07 has only twelve members and is already more scattered perhaps than the January class.

Anna H. Prosser--is in Rockford, Ill., attending Rockford College, one of the best schools of its kind in the middle west.

Mildred Stirlen--is about to enter the cadet work offered in the city school system.

Helen L. Martin--is back in High school taking some of the studies of the business course, but will go away to college next year.

Hazel B. Wagner--has entered Grinnell College and is reported to be doing excellent work there.

Pauline F. Bielefeld--with characteristic energy is already at work, teaching school in Lone Tree.

C. Stewart Narvis--rooming with Charlie Warner at Ames and are taking civil engineering.

Charlie P. Warner--rooming with Stuart Narvis at Ames and are taking civil engineering.

Josiah W. Hopkinson--was the only member of the class to go east to school and has entered Harvard University.

Adam W. Von Dresky--is at present in Colorado on a pleasure trip, but intends to enter some law school in the future.

Edith G. Althaus--has also taken up the cadet course.

M. Leola Lee--is, for the present, staying at home, but will leave for college immediately after the Christmas holidays.

Leo T. Ineichen--has gone west to school and is attending the Creighton University in Omaha.

This is really an excellent showing from twenty-five people. Each of them has either taken up some business or else have made definite plans in regard to the future. An excellent percentage have gone in for higher education while a great number are still pursuing the path of learning in the city schools. The rest are actively engaged in some work or occupation. The readers of the "Auroran" will undoubtedly follow their careers with interest.
