STILES

Father:

    Leslie Earl Stiles was born June 29, 1885 at Fairmont, Nebraska. He was the son of William Lincoln Steven Stiles and Anna Bullock. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1901 and from the Univ. of Michigan in 1905 with a DDS degree. He practiced dentistry in Oklahoma and Iowa until retirement. He died February 25, 1974 in Des Moines, Iowa and is buried in Woodward, Iowa.

Mother:

    Amy Lee Barnard (Stiles) was born November 19, 1883 in Lake Co., Michigan. She is the daughter of John Wesley Barnard and Emily Louis Povey (Barnard). She graduated from a two-year teaching program at the Michigan Normal School at Ypsilanti, Michigan. She taught school in central Michigan prior to her marriage.

Leslie Stiles and Amy Barnard were married July 14, 1908 (I think in Durand, Michigan). During the next sixty-six years they lived in various towns in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Iowa. They were in Elliott, Iowa from 1922 through 1936.

    John Robert, b. Feb. 22, 1913, Creston, Iowa.

    Leslie Earl, Jr., b. May 3, 1917, Creston, Iowa. D. April 3, 1974.

    Eleanor Annis, b. June 13, 1921, Creston, Iowa.

    William B. married Myrna M. Cadwell March 19, 1932 and they have two daughters, Anne Marilyn Stiles (Behler) and Mary Ellen Stiles (Rook). J. Robert married Barbara Nelson and they have one son John Robert, Jr. Robert, Sr. was divorced and later married Dorothy (?).

    Leslie married Avis Nelson (no relation to Barbara Nelson) and they had four children, Lanny, Ellen, Roger and Amy. Eleanor A. married Koert Smith and they have four children, Gwen, Koert, Jr., Jane and Ruth. Eleanor was widowed and later married Melvin Harris.
