JOHN SMITH             SADIE A. SMITH

     John Smith and Sadie A. Pugh were married in Cumberland, Iowa. John was prominent as a banker, and Sadie, a teacher in the Cumberland vicinity, and as a clubwoman in Elliott.

Children born to them were Mary Margaret (May 6, 1901), Earl (February 19, 1903), and Frances Elizabeth (February 6, 1908).

    Mary Margaret married Clifford N. Braden in Red Oak. To their union was born Betty Marie (Mrs. Charles Welsch) of Elliott, Barbara Jean (Mrs. Delbert Henke) of Sacramento, California, and Courtland R. of Citrus Heights, California, who is a retired Lt. Colonel of the U. S. Air Force. Betty and Charles had one daughter, Candace (Mrs. John Tischer) of Red Oak, Iowa. Barbara and Delbert had three children, David, Deborah, and Michael, all of California. Court married Janet Hinemeyer of Elliott and their children were Terry Gene (born in England) and Cynthia.

Earl, son of John and Sadie married Lou Epperly, a teacher in the Elliott school. To this union was born a daughter, Margie Lou. Margie married Robert Brown and has two daughters, Kathy and Jane. Earl passed away in Loveland, Colorado, January 11, 1935.

    Francis Elizabeth married Joseph H. Thompson in a double wedding ceremony with Earl and Lou at Jackson, Minnesota. Joe and Elizabeth’s children were Jack Edward (Jan. 31, 1927), Carol Jean (Aug. 1, 1930), Janet Lorraine (July 11, 1933), Joseph Glen (Aug. 19, 1935), Margaret Sara (May 31, 1937), and Jerry Dean (Mar. 30, 1939). The children graduated from Elliott High School and attended College or business school. Jack served in the Navy and Jerry four years in the Marines.

   Jack, Red Oak, Iowa, married Marilyn Mae Moon, and they have a daughter, Jamie Jo. Jean married Robert Mastin, Elliott, and their children were Mark Alan and Melanie Ann. Later Jean married Gary Buzick, Webster City, and they have one daughter, Kristi Lee. Janet married Donald Milner of Elliott and their children were Vicki Jolene, Brent Lee, and Joel Eric. Brent married Diane Weirich and their daughter is Jackie Ann. Joseph Glen, Omaha, married June Fay Lindgren and to them were born Jennifer Corrine and Sarah Elizabeth. Margaret Sara, married Robert Crossland, Austin, Texas, and they had two sons, Michael Everett and Robert Alan. Jerry Dean, Primghar, Iowa, married Deanna Johnson and to them was born Susan Elizabeth, Timothy Steven, and Michael Jay.
