SHIELDS - JACKSON

After graduating from Iowa State College and a brief tenure of teaching at Delhi, Iowa, I married Ralph Arthur Jackson of Tenville and we moved on to the place where we have lived ever since. I took another spurt at teaching Home Economics at our old stomping ground, Elliott Consolidated School, during the years 1956-60. Then in 1961 we were blessed with an unusual gift. We were allowed to adopt five brothers and sisters from one family who needed a home…we were a home that needed children. They were Teresa Diane who married John M. Lane and lives on the West coast with her husband and two little boys, Craig and Jason; Rodney Paul who married Cynthia Jo Sindt of the Lyman area and has Amanda Lynn, aged 2; Victor Ray who married (1) Jean Douglas of Dubuque and (2) Lisa Hillary of Dubuque and has two little girls, Vicky Lynn and Alichia; Debra Kay who married Richard McDonald of Des Moines. They live in Iowa City where Richard is completing dental school in May of this year; Veta Delores who is this far unmarried and who lives in Sioux City.

We have farmed these 30 years but we have mostly appreciated the loving concern of the families in the area. We feel truly blessed.
